Hi Everyone - I need to remove the cluster as my Temp Gauge, Rev Counter, do not work. I have searched the forums and found one post by clintv which makes the removal sound very easy but another one by E30 M325i which looks like Rocket Science to my modest talents. No offence to anyone but which is correct. Repeat, no offence intended.

Possibly both.
a couple scews to loosen, 2 at the top and possibly 2 at the bottom (somethimes they've been removed) then you must take the footwell cover off on the drivers side.
If you reach up behind the lower part of the cluster you'll find 2 round nuts that you must undo to get the facia section off from under the cluster.
Remove that then tilt your cluster onto its face, unplug the cluster and manouvre it our without breaking the 2 protruding "arms" at the top of the cluster.
Voila, installation is reverse to that..

If i've missed anything, fill in gents....

Thank you guys I will give it a go. By the way do I have to disassemble the cluster to get at the nuts to tighten for the Temp Gauge and Rev Counter?

hehe, nop I responded as such because I was busy remembering taking apart my cluster, some hesitation in my thought process.
My days of working on cars only started with this current 1 just over a year ago, so dont stress it

no the nut is on the outside but to clean the contact points you have to open the cluster
