Steering Rack? how do u tell if steering rack has packed up?

hi guyz! The other day i was trying to put on some new wheels. These guyz said that i should change ma steering rack first as it is packed up! What i would like to know is how do u tell if yr streeng rack has packed up n how much do they go for in case i got to get 1!

Check for play on the steering/front wheels. Price, last time I checked was about R4500.00 for a new one (fitted) and about R1800.00 to recondition.

no offence BIG-D but i think i can better that price of R1800 to recon....my father got mine done for R600 somewhere in jhb i think...il let you knw wer about...

fit a e36 rack more available and the shorter ratio really makes a difference

Yeh it looks like BIG -D wanna make a quick buk. Just called bemo spares in Pretoia, they selling e36 rack for R 1300

nope what i hear is a staright swap, the only modofication u gona do is to get hold of some spacers, apparently 14mm, so that the bottom part of the rack can connet with the top part of the e30 rack! Check out Hennie link, very informative!
