I would so love to see an M20 that doesnt have EXTENSIVE and I mean extensive amounts of money throwing at it's head and intake system to be able to handle those rev's.

I actually know a guy who's rev counter rev's to 8k , funny thing how having the wrong coding chip in the Cluster can make the person revving the car think it's going that high :)

What I'm trying to say here is... if you did go out and spend all this money on importing rockers that will be able to withstand revs till 9k rpm, thats great... but u still going to need a whole host more money to actually make the M20 flow enough air per cycle to make power up there... this is a fact.

yes guys thanx for all the replys
an m2o motor can rev 8200rpm wether u guys lyk it or not
my car has survived many dyno runs until the limiter
i thk u guys all knw joe martin wnt chip a car to rev that high if its gna break
HEADWORK yes spiral valves yes billet cam yes
so lets not go on n on...
im gna try n upload my last dyno...the car makes power until 7700rpm n then dips
the extra rev is jst there so fuel doent get cut before u gear change
the car currently pushing 138kw on rear wheels
i thk u guys dnt understand that befor the valve dropped i didnt hav the presure plats prob
the car revved happily to the 8200rpm limiter
but maybe thats da reason it eventualy popped

i ordered the racing plate from martins(R1200.00+vat)
ill keep u guys posted of the outcum

thanx

Maybe the next time you are in the south we could arrange for you to take your car to Budler and put it on his Dyno,
would also be nice to compare dyno readings.
He is very close to Martins Motor Sport

I say BULL , as u still not answering my question... and Wow, my car made 160kw on a dyno 2... doesn't mean it's a realy world 160kw ;)

Spiral cut valves just keep the fuel and air in suspension as it creates slight turbulence on the air intake... it's got nothing to do with volume.

The Camshaft yes a higher duration will allow more air into the motor due to longer duration, and lift... but u are still restriced by valve size and combustion chamer size.

On, another note... U do realize that Budler was once employed by Martin.

But I guess, trying to explain my reasoning is like having a conversation with a wall.

327RUSGP when your car is running go and show the disbelievers that a m 20 can and do rev to 8200
my bud had one of this after market ones with a shift light and build in rev limiter in his cab and on both it went nicely over 8 grand i pushed it to 80 kph in first gear before shifting to 2nd

All you guys are missing the plot ...we are a community of brotherhood and all E30 fans .
327RUSGP - I meant no harm or disrespect by telling you to purchase a genuine clutch kit from agents ..was only trying to be helpful ;)
Stevin - remenber something bud we are here to learn from each other , you are also learning ... not everything make sense or equals out the way you expect it !
Lets try and be good to each other ... if the owner says something that he beleives about his car then just leave it as that !
After all what maybe crap to you mabe GOLD to another man.
Plain and simple .... lets not be imature .... offer advice not debate !
Keep up the brotherhood and respect to all !

Debate is always good!! , and advice is only worthwhile if it proves to be relevant (which I think my 1st or 2nd post in this thread I gave what I thought might be the problem that he is destroying pressure plates...)

I dont belive it, it's that simple... and it's my opinion :) I'll believe it when I see it. My reasoning is backed by sound engineering and flow calculations.

Healthy Debate is always a learning curve guys..

I think the point sum are trying to make here is that anyone can put a tacho & rev there car to 8000 or even 9000
BUT is the car still making power there???

I for one doubt it, with the std intake manifold on the M20.
I've seen plenty N/A M20's dyno graphs make power till around 6500 & then start dropping quickly & these cars run low 15's, high 14's .

327RUS, i think u should post a Dyno graph & make us eat our words bra

heh heh - my cabrio revcounter used to go right past the economy meter. wonder how many revs that was????

didnt go any faster  but it certainly made some jaws drop when people saw it. :P

it seems fairly convincing that they can rev to that level - but honestly, i would never, ever, even consider buying a car that had been revved to that level....

Like Ron_g said, my car use to go past the economy meter and bounce back and still keep running than she cut out Hehehe
oh and that was until I changed my cluster, I bought my car standard, I have a friend that had his head worked and not sure what he done to the bottom end, but his car was strong and no limiter he use to run me, but I would catch up to him as he revved past 7K and eventually leave him, when I drove his car and him mine, I dropped him 4 car lengths and he couldn't catch up with my car, i took his car to 6500RPM

I can't remember if you posted the dyno sheet yet. I'm still very interested to see what the curves look like.
